Generally, yes — Tazorac® (tazarotene) and Lustra® Cream can be used in the same treatment plan, but they can be irritating together. Lustra/Lustra-AF contains hydroquinone, used for dyschromia/hyperpigmentation, and labeling recommends limiting sun exposure and using sunscreen or protective clothing during and after use.
The main safety issue is additive dryness, redness, peeling, burning, or irritation, not a major systemic drug interaction. Tazarotene labeling specifically says to avoid or be cautious with topical medications/cosmetics that have strong drying effects, and common reactions include peeling, redness, burning, dry/irritated skin, and itching.
A typical dermatologist-style approach is: Lustra in the morning, sunscreen every day, and Tazorac at bedtime—or alternating nights if your skin is sensitive. Let each product fully absorb/dry before layering anything else, and pause/reduce use if significant irritation develops. Tazarotene labeling supports bedtime use and notes moisturizers may be used before or after as long as the first product has absorbed and dried.
Two important cautions: do not use Tazorac during pregnancy or while trying to become pregnant, and hydroquinone labeling says pregnancy safety has not been established. Also, avoid applying either product to sunburned, broken, eczematous, or very irritated skin.
