Dostinex, whose active ingredient is cabergoline, is primarily used to treat conditions caused by high levels of the hormone prolactin, such as prolactinomas (prolactin-secreting tumors) or disorders related to hyperprolactinemia. By acting as a dopamine receptor agonist, it helps reduce prolactin production in the pituitary gland. It is also sometimes used off-label for treating Parkinson's disease and certain other conditions.
