Ortho Evra, a contraceptive patch, was discontinued primarily due to concerns about its safety profile, particularly an increased risk of blood clots compared to some oral contraceptives. Additionally, there were reports of side effects and lawsuits which may have influenced the decision to remove it from the market. The manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, officially stopped distributing Ortho Evra in 2014, transitioning users to a newer version called Xulane.
