According to the current U.S. prescribing information for Ertaczo® (sertaconazole nitrate) cream 2%, there are no listed formal contraindications.
However, there are important precautions. Ertaczo should be used cautiously in people with a known sensitivity to azole antifungal medicines, because cross-reactivity may occur. If significant irritation, redness, itching, burning, blistering, swelling, or other sensitivity develops, treatment should be stopped and the healthcare provider contacted.
It is for topical skin use only and should not be used in the eyes, mouth, or vagina. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children under 12 years of age.
