Meloxicam should not be given to puppies younger than 6 weeks, pregnant or nursing females, dogs with gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, dogs with liver, heart, or kidney disease, or dogs with known allergies to NSAIDs. Avoiding use in these groups reduces the risk of serious complications.
