When taking venlafaxine, avoid drinking alcohol and using other medications that can increase drowsiness or risk of serotonin syndrome, such as other antidepressants or St. John’s Wort, unless approved by your doctor. Also, do not suddenly stop taking venlafaxine without consulting your healthcare provider, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms.
