Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) has fallen out of favor because studies have shown it can delay wound healing and is less effective than newer treatments for burns. Additionally, it can cause side effects like allergic reactions and leukopenia. As a result, clinicians now prefer other topical agents for burn care.
