You should not take Sulfatrim DS if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, have had low platelet counts from a drug, have serious kidney problems, are taking trimethoprim and/or sulfonamides, have megaloblastic anemia from folate deficiency, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have acute porphyria. Avoiding use in these groups prevents serious adverse reactions and ensures patient safety.
