Recommended Monoferric Dose for Adults Weighing 50 kg or More
Monoferric® (ferric derisomaltose) is an intravenous iron medication used to treat iron deficiency anemia in adults. For adults who weigh 50 kg or more, the recommended dose is 1,000 mg of elemental iron given as a single intravenous infusion.
The infusion should be administered over at least 20 minutes by a healthcare professional. This dosing approach allows patients to receive a full replacement dose in one visit. If iron deficiency anemia returns, the dose may be repeated based on the patient’s clinical need and laboratory results.
Patients should be monitored during and after the infusion for possible reactions, including hypersensitivity or low blood pressure. Monoferric should only be given in a setting where appropriate medical support is available.
