Ozempic tablets are available in 1.5 mg, 4 mg, and 9 mg strengths. The usual starting dose is 1.5 mg once daily for the first 30 days. This starting dose is mainly used to help the body adjust and is not intended to lower blood sugar by itself.
After 30 days, the dose is usually increased to 4 mg once daily to help lower blood sugar. If additional blood sugar control is needed, a healthcare provider may increase the dose to 9 mg once daily after at least 30 days on the 4 mg dose. Patients should not change their dose without medical guidance, because dose changes are based on tolerability, blood sugar goals, A1C response, and side effects.
