Flagyl (metronidazole) syrup starts working soon after you take it, but you usually won’t feel the full benefit immediately. For most infections, symptoms begin to improve within a few days; some infections can take up to a week before noticeable improvement occurs.
The liquid form works the same way as metronidazole tablets—the timing depends more on the type and severity of the infection than on whether you take syrup or tablets.
Even if you feel better quickly, finish the entire prescribed course. If symptoms are worsening or you still do not feel better after completing treatment, contact your healthcare provider.
