Weight gain is not considered a common side effect of quinagolide (Norprolac). The official prescribing information lists loss of appetite as a common effect rather than weight gain.
Quinagolide can, however, cause fluid retention (edema) in some people, which may temporarily increase body weight. Dopamine agonists such as quinagolide can also rarely cause binge or compulsive eating, which could contribute to weight gain.
If you notice rapid weight gain, swelling in your legs or ankles, or a significant change in appetite while taking quinagolide, contact your healthcare provider.
