Tolterodine starts relaxing the bladder within about 3–8 hours after a dose, but improvement in overactive bladder symptoms—such as urgency, frequent urination, or leakage—usually takes longer.
You may notice some improvement within 1–2 weeks, while the full benefit can take 4 weeks or longer. If you have no improvement after 1–2 weeks, it’s reasonable to check with your healthcare provider rather than changing the dose yourself.
Common early side effects include dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, and blurred vision.
