While taking tolterodine, avoid driving, operating machinery, or other activities requiring clear vision and alertness until you know how the medicine affects you. Tolterodine can cause dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision.
Also be cautious with alcohol, since it may worsen dizziness or drowsiness. Before starting new medicines or supplements, check with your pharmacist or healthcare provider because some drugs—particularly certain antifungals, antibiotics, and other medicines that have anticholinergic effects—can increase tolterodine's effects or side effects.
Avoid taking an extra dose if you miss one; simply take your next dose at the usual time.
If you develop difficulty urinating, severe constipation, significant confusion, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek medical advice promptly; facial or throat swelling requires emergency care.
