Trelegy Ellipta is intended to be used once every day, ideally at the same time each day. Using it every other day is generally not recommended unless your prescriber specifically tells you to do so. The current U.S. prescribing information specifies one inhalation once daily for maintenance treatment of COPD or asthma.
Skipping alternate days may leave you with less consistent airway control and could increase symptoms or the risk of a flare-up. Trelegy is a maintenance inhaler, not a rescue inhaler, so it works best when taken regularly.
If you're considering every-other-day dosing because of side effects, cost, or because you're feeling well, it's better to discuss this with your doctor first; they may recommend a different strength or inhaler rather than simply skipping doses. Also, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after each dose to reduce the risk of oral thrush.
