Colace (docusate) can generally be taken at any time of day, but many product labels recommend taking it at bedtime.
Take it with a full glass of water, and try to take it around the same time each day if you’re using it regularly. It does not work immediately; stool softening may take 1–3 days.
If you’re taking Colace 100 mg, follow the dose on your specific package, since dosing can vary by product.
