The best time to take RELISTOR (methylnaltrexone) depends on the formulation.
For RELISTOR tablets, take them once daily in the morning on an empty stomach, with water, at least 30 minutes before your first meal of the day.
For RELISTOR injection, there is no specific required time of day. For chronic non-cancer pain it is generally given once daily as prescribed; for advanced illness it may be given every other day as needed, with no more than one dose in 24 hours.
Because RELISTOR can sometimes cause a bowel movement within a few hours, it is a good idea to stay close to a toilet after taking it.
