NUPRO is a reasonable nutritional supplement for dogs, but whether it's worth buying depends on your dog's diet, age, and health needs. It contains several useful nutritional ingredients, although some of its advertised benefits aren't strongly supported by scientific studies.
There are two main versions:
-
NUPRO Gold (Original): Contains flaxseed, kelp, nutritional yeast, liver, amino acids, and other ingredients. It's marketed for general nutrition, skin, coat, and digestive support.
-
NUPRO Silver (Joint & Immunity): Contains the Gold ingredients plus glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and vitamin C. It's marketed for active and senior dogs.

What I like about NUPRO
It offers a variety of nutrients in one powder, and its liver content may make food more appealing to picky eaters. The flaxseed provides fatty acids, while nutritional yeast contributes nutrients such as B vitamins.
However, dogs eating a complete and balanced diet generally don't need additional multivitamins or minerals.
What concerns me
-
Joint support: Glucosamine and chondroitin have not consistently improved arthritis pain in veterinary studies. Fish-derived omega-3s (EPA/DHA) have stronger evidence.

Garlic: NUPRO contains garlic, which can be toxic to dogs at sufficient doses. The ingredient listing doesn't establish whether the amount in a recommended serving presents a risk.

Extra minerals: Kelp adds iodine, which deserves attention in dogs with thyroid conditions or those already taking supplements.
My assessment: I wouldn't consider NUPRO essential for an otherwise healthy dog eating a balanced commercial diet. For a dog with arthritis, I'd prioritize veterinary assessment and treatments with stronger evidence rather than rely on NUPRO Silver alone.
